Monument Valley girls wrestling finish 2nd in Parowan, Whitehorse wrestling in St. George

The Monument Valley girls wrestling team took second place at the Paul Williamson memorial tournament in Parowan over the weekend. Leading the way for the lady Cougars was Aiyana Parker who earned four wins by fall to gather first place honors at the tournament. Teammate Nizhoni Sloan took second at the same weight classification with three wins by pin and her lone loss coming to her teammate.
Fellow Cougar teammate Nay’Myia Morgan earned third place honors at the tournament earning one win by fall and one by tech fall on the weekend, with Morgan losing two matches she earned third place honors for the Cougars.
Monument Valley’s Alisha Sloan also wrestled hard for the Cougars finishing in fifth place at the tournament while earning valuable mat time.
The Monument Valley boys wrestling team also competed at a tournament in Parowan over the weekend. Cougar wrestler Kye Amy earned a third period pin over the weekend while teammate Talon Brook also earned valuable tournament mat time for the Cougars.
The Whitehorse Raiders boys wrestling team traveled to St. George for the Days of Thunder Varsity Duels over the weekend.
Leading the way for the Raiders was Malakai Rentz who earned a 4-3 record on the weekend with all four wins coming by pin.
Teammate Hunter Tsinigine went 2-3 on the weekend with one win by fall and another by a 9-7 decision. Lance Tsinigine also earned one win by fall on the weekend with Riley Benallie also getting good varsity experience at the tournament.
The Whitehorse girls wrestling team also competed at a St. George over the weekend. The lady Raiders were led by Rayauna Lee who went 2-3 on the weekend to finish in 8th place. Lee earned both her wins by pin in the first period.
Also earning a win by fall for the Raiders was Shandiin Roberts who finished in sixth place.
Also putting in valuable mat time for the lady Raiders were Megan Collins, Haileigh Roberts, Katie Whitehair.
