2018 closes for Buckaroo wrestlers

The Buckaroo wrestlers from Monticello High School closed out the 2018 portion of their season this past week. The Buckaroos had a big 59-22 win over Monument Valley-Kayenta at home on Tuesday, before a tough dual in Cortez, where they were defeated 43-29. 
Against Kayenta, the Buckaroos started with JV matches with Logan Draper earning a second period win by fall. Tate Ramsay, Tyler Thayn, Alan Pettit and Matt Beh all scored first period wins by fall.
JD Keyes battled hard but was defeated by fall in the second period. Robert Musselman, Drew Westcott, Tuff Adair and Dillon Wheeler each earned a win by fall in the first period of their matches and Logan Draper earned his second win of the night with a second period fall.
In varsity action, Paxton Christensen, Steven Robinson, Mark Beh, Wyatt l, Dillon Slack and Eldean Lammert all earned first period wins by fall.
Cameron Bailey, Brevin Olson and Tuff Adair all won by fall in the second period.  Zach Cecil put together a great match, winning by technical fall, 18-2.
Dillan Wheeler had a tough and exciting battle, and was up 4-1 in the third period when he turned his opponent for the win by fall with only seconds to go in the match. Tyler Thayn worked hard but was defeated 12-0 in his match.
Against a tough Cortez team, Eldean Lammert started the Bucks off in the win column with a first period fall. Paxton Christensen, Tate Ramsay, Tyler Thayn and Dillan Wheeler fought hard but were defeated.
Mark Beh put the Buckaroos back on the winning side with a second period win by fall after leading 14-1. Wyatt Fullmer controlled his match start to finish in a 16-0 win by technical fall.  Zach Cecil and Tuff Adair were both defeated in their matches. 
In JV/Exhibition action, Dillon Slack earned a win by fall in the first period and Robert Musselman was defeated. 
The Buckaroos are now off for the holiday but will be back in action Thursday, January 10 when they will host Aztec at the MHS gym at 6 p.m.
