Blaine Nebeker
MONTICELLO CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE
My name is Blaine Nebeker and I’m excited to be running for city council. My beautiful wife and I have lived in Monticello for the past fourteen years. I have grown to love the community, its surroundings, and the people that live in it. My wife and I rely heavily on our neighbors within the community for support as we raise our five children. I have learned to appreciate the role that a community and the people that live in it play in raising a family.
As I have become more aware of the role of the city council, I’ve developed an appreciation for those who have been willing to commit the time necessary to be an effective leader on the council and provide that valuable service to our community both in the past and those who serve now. I have observed it is a pretty thankless job and there are often tough decisions to be made that affect everyone in the community’s livelihood and quality of life. While I recognize the reason we elect the council is to represent all of us at the table, I hope to see more people in the community become more pro-active in the decision making process of the city as we continue to move forward.
I chose to run for city council to simply offer my time and to bring the conservative values that I have been taught and have developed through my life experience to the table as we make important decisions that affect all of us living here. I am very supportive of responsible growth and hope to see our community thrive and progress. I know that we deal with limited monetary resources in this community, but I feel as we use what we do have wisely, we will be able to continue to progress and grow as a community. I have learned from tough experience in my personal life that it is much more enjoyable to spend money that you have rather than spend money you don’t have and then try to figure out where to get it after you have spent it. I recognize that a city government cannot be run exactly like a personal household, but I think if we remember those basic principles that we all have to live by in our personal lives and apply them in the city government setting, we will all be better off. I love this little town and what it offers to its residents and visitors. Monticello is truly a great place to live and raise a family, and I look forward to serving on the council as one of the many ways that I can give back and contribute to this great place that we are all lucky enough to call home. As a candidate for Monticello City Council I appreciate your support.
