Karen has done a lot to help improve the instructional capabilities of Blanding Elementary Teachers by attending training with the LETRS program and providing professional development. She has developed a school-wide vocabulary program to help all students to improve academic vocabulary. The kids were very excited to be a part of that and had a lot of fun. Six years ago, Karen created a second grade patriotic program for Veteran’s day, wherein she teaches the kids patriotic songs and how to be good community members. Karen is positive with the students, and a team player. I am proud that she is part of Blanding Elementary and she deserves to be Employee of the year.

Susanne Johnson

Susanne has been a reading specialist at Blanding Elementary for 7 years. She is my “go to” person to organize Dibels testing, kindergarten testing, and reading. She takes charge in creating schedules for all of the testing and makes sure it is completed in a timely manner. The teachers at BES appreciate the work she does for the students. They trust her to create lessons that meet the needs of the students. Susanne works with students at all levels and is willing to do whatever it takes to help them master specific concepts. Susanne is a great asset at Blanding Elementary and we are better off with her there.
