Voters make choices in Monticello and Blanding

Results are in from the November 4 municipal elections in Monticello and Blanding.
1,306 ballots were cast by registered voters in the towns making a 55-percent voter turnout of the 2,390 registered voters in the towns.
In the Monticello mayoral race Kevin Dunn earned 271 votes to incumbent Bayley Hedglin’s 255 votes.
Monticello City Council will also have Shane Brewer and Todd Westcott join the council. Brewer earned 326 votes while Westcott earned 306 votes; Tanner Holt earned 237 votes while Pamela Pearson-Fuller earned 134 votes.
Brewer and Westcott will take seats held by Dunn and George Rice who did not seek re-election.
Blanding City Council’s two new members will be Chad Moses and Jesse Grover. Moses earned 411 votes while Jesse Grover earned 354 votes. Bret Hosler earned 318 votes while incumbent Erik Grover earned 312 votes. Council member Cheryl Bowers did not seek re-election.
Trevor Olsen ran unopposed and received 643 votes for a term as Blanding Mayor.
In Bluff, there was not a contested race, but there will be three new elected officials, including Mayor Josh Ewing and Town Council members Spencer Wade and Gary Haws.
The trio will replace Mayor Ann Leppanen, Luanne Hook and Linda Sosa who have served since Bluff’s first election following incorporation.
