Members of the Blanding City Council approved contracts for the wellness center and street projects at their latest meeting.
During their March 14 meeting. members of the Blanding City Council approved budgeted contracts with Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP for fire alarm and fire sprinkler design, as part of the retrofit of the San Juan Wellness Center.
The approved resolution is designed to help expedite the shop drawing for the alarm and sprinkler portions of the Wellness Center retrofit, and in turn, keep the retrofit of the Wellness Center on schedule.
Members of the council also approved a budgeted street improvement project for the upcoming construction season.
The $800,000 that is budgeted includes funds from the San Juan County Transportation Special Service District and more than three years of savings.
While the details of the project have not been laid out, the work will include engineering services for a scope of work including chip seal coat, roadway reconstruction, roadway widening, and hot mix asphalt overlay.
Members of the council also discussed the city snow plow at the airport and the county agreement to maintain weeds near the airport runway.
City Administration recommended retaining the airport snow plow sander box as an asset, while being open to sharing the use of the sander box with the County if needed as a backup, and as long as the County provides maintenance and repairs to the equipment for their use.
