Members of the Blanding City Council did not have a full quorum at their latest meeting but they did hear comments from residents about dogs in the city.
City Manager Trent Herring reports the city heard from three residents who asked about the number of dogs Blanding residents are allowed to own.
Counties and cities in the state are allowed to make their own ordinances regarding the limit of dogs. Blanding doesn’t have any limit but it was noted many parts of the state allow 4-6 per household over the age of six months.
One public comment suggested considering a higher impound fee for dogs that are not spayed or neutered.
City staff says they plan to look into the issue and bring it before council at a future meeting.
