West Side Wellness Opens in Blanding
A new wellness business has quietly – and beautifully – slipped into Blanding, and if you haven’t been inside yet, you’re missing out. West Side Wellness, located in the historic West Side Market building at 95 N 400 W, held its open house a few weeks ago and is officially open for classes, massage sessions, small events, and a whole new way to take care of yourself.
West Side Wellness is a holistic wellness studio offering massage, yoga, wellness classes, and a rentable community space for events and practitioners.
West Side Wellness isn’t just for the already-fit, already-flexible people. It’s for those of us juggling families, busy schedules, aching backs, and a slightly frazzled mental load. The Thursday night yoga class is purposely gentle and beginner-friendly – no pressure, no pretzel poses, no need to be “good at yoga.”
If yoga isn’t your thing, a massage might be, especially the 30-minute back/neck/shoulder option that’s perfect for anyone who wants the benefits without committing to a full hour.
Whether you’re looking for relaxation, pain relief, stress management, or just an hour where no one needs anything from you, West Side Wellness offers a starting point.
The name “West Side” honors the old West Side Market as it is in the same old building which was also the old 4Corners Electric building. However, when you step through the door now you see an immediate transformation: warm lighting, calm energy, and a space designed to help you breathe a little deeper the moment you walk in.
West Side Wellness was created by owner Tracy Nielson and business partner Roy Yoakam, who saw the potential in and imagined more than just a business. They imagined a community hub. A place where people could stretch, relax, breathe, learn, celebrate, and gather without having to leave town.
Their vision extends far beyond yoga mats and massage tables. They’re in the middle of a multi-phase renovation designed to bring new life not only to the building but to the entire property. Over the past year and a half, Tacy and Roy have taken on the not-so-glamorous work first: clearing debris, organizing the grounds, and preparing the space for big things to come. And the big things are coming.
Inside, the studio can be used for far more than wellness classes. It’s hosted spa-themed birthday parties, CPR trainings, prom dinners, missionary farewells, family gatherings, and small community events. The space is intentionally cozy, flexible, and welcoming. It is perfect for someone who needs a beautiful spot to host something meaningful and aren’t excited to try cramming 12 people into their living room. Anyone wanting to book the space can reach out directly, and Tracy is happy to help customize the layout for different needs.
In addition to the improvements that are finished, a brand-new private treatment room is being renovated. This room will be available for rent to wellness practitioners, bodyworkers, or mental health professionals who need a dedicated, quiet space to see clients. West Side Wellness will become a central location for mind and body care.
This is just Phase One. Down the road, the neighboring commercial building, also owned by Tracy and Roy, is slated for a full transformation with the intention of becoming a collaborative business space for professionals who want a peaceful corner of Blanding to grow something new.
Tracy and Roy believe that the community deserves more accessible wellness, more opportunities, and more places to gather, so they are building it.
For those dreaming of starting their own business someday, Tracy shared a little wisdom from her experience: Start with clarity. Don’t try to have everything perfect on day one. Let things grow as you grow. Be flexible. And don’t let people who don’t understand your vision talk you out of it. In rural towns especially, there’s no perfect roadmap, just a willingness to start and a community that (usually) steps in to support you.
