Broncos notch another win, trample Parowan 44-7

From San Juan’s first play from scrimmage, you could tell it was going to be a long night for the visiting Rams of Parowan High.
After the Broncos forced a three and out on the Rams’ first possession, senior running back Trason Jack took the handoff on San Juan’s own six yard line and rumbled 94 yards to the end zone.
The play, unfortunately, was called back due to a block in the back that had no bearing on the play. After the penalty, Jack had still gained 54 yards on the carry.
The Broncos’ first score came just a few seconds after the opening scamper by Jack. Payton Palmer found Brittain Bowring on an 11-yard pass, Aaron Mitchell put the PAT through the up rights, and San Juan took an early 7-0 lead.
San Juan blew the game open in the second quarter, making four trips across the goal line.
The first came on a 45-yard hook up from Payton Palmer to Kesian Barton. Mitchell’s point after attempt was good, and San Juan led 14-0.
Jack and Max Morley would each score in that order, Jack from five yards out and Morley from 30 yards out respectively. Palmer would find Bowring one more time as well in the second quarter, this time on a 13-yard strike.
Mitchell would go two for three on the extra points, giving the Broncos a 34-0 lead at the half.
Grant Laws would score San Juan’s final touchdown on a 28-yard run in tin third quarter, and Mitchell would add the PAT making the score 41-0.
Later in the quarter, Mitchell rounded out the Broncos’ scoring later in the third when he stepped up and booted a 40-yard field goal, which pushed the San Juan lead to 44-0.
Parowan would get on the board in the fourth quarter scoring their lone touchdown of the game on a 35-yard pass play to make the final score 44-7 in favor of San Juan.
Offensively, the Broncos piled up 453 yards of offense with 269 of those yards coming on the ground via ten different Bronco ball carriers led by Kavika Su’eSu’e, who rushed 11 times for 85 yards.
Jack ran for 69 yards on four carries, while Payton Palmer carried four times for 13 yards. Morley, Laws and Eldredge each had two attempts with Morley totaling 41 yards, Laws 30 and Eldredge 23 yards.
Nathan Nielson also had two carries for eight yards and Baylr’ Eldredge carried one time for two yards.
San Juan added 184 yards through the air. Payton Palmer went 11 for 15 for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore Jordan Blake was one for two for two yards.
On the receiving end of those passes are Laws, who had two snags for 43 yards, and DiQuan Lopez, who also had two catches for 15 yards.
Bowring and Bronz Eldredge also finished the game with a pair of catches for 24 and 15 yards respectively. Bowring also had two touchdown catches.
Kesian Barton reeled in one catch for 45 yards and a score. Jack had one grab or 19 yards, while Jon Lewis pulled down one catch for 21 yards and Jaxon Lee had one catch for two yards to round things out.
On the defensive side of the ball, San Juan had a bunch of Broncos record tackles in the game, as many younger players saw some varsity playing time.
Eldredge and Jay McDonald led the Broncos with five tackles apiece. They were followed by Trason Jack and Holden Smith with four stops. Payton Palmer and DiQuan Lopez were next with three take downs.
Broncos finishing with two tackles include Jaxon and Easton Lee, Chase Palmer, Elliot Jones, Bowring, Morley and Su’eSu’e. Aaron Mitchell, Braxton Brown, Paul Kyles, Preston McDonald,
Joshua Hunt, Colton Wojcik, Asa Bradford, Laws, Nielson and Lewis all recorded on tackle each. Smith, Wojcik and Bradford also recorded a sack in the game, with Easton Lee and Chase Palmer both tallying half a sack and Brown had a fumble recovery.
San Juan travels to Beaver, UT on Friday to take on the Beaver High Beavers. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
