San Juan Pharmacy and Gift has been chosen as our Business Spotlight of the week. Owners Tim and Sidney Young have been in business for four years now. This busy business employs ten individuals as well as being certified by the state to train pharmacy technicians.
This business has adopted the Mission Statement of, “At San Juan Pharmacy and Gift we are devoted to improving customer well-being through personal care with a unique and convenient shopping experience”, and from what we could see that is what they are doing.
In order to serve the pharmacy’s clientele more efficiently, Tim specializes in compounding (customizing) medications as prescribed by the customer’s physician. This enables him to change the way a medication may be delivered to the patient.
For instance, if something makes a person sick to their stomach, maybe it can be delivered in a topical form more effectively. Compounding medications may also be more cost effective for the customer. Tim is attracting customers from communities as far away as Grand Junction with this service.
Efforts have been made with specialty machines being put into place to improve accuracy of getting your prescription to you.
The San Juan Pharmacy also offers the service of mailing prescriptions if you live in an outlying community. Tim and Sydney also try to be competitive on pricing, making their prescription meds comparable to larger stores.
There have been many changes to the shopping area of the store and Sydney has focused on carrying many unique items. You can find stylish home deco, designer jewelry and purses, toys, greeting cards, candy and this year she has expanded into a clothing line, which has been well received by customers. Her goal is to make improvements every year to the store’s line of merchandise.
