Craig R. Leavitt

Running for: Monticello City Council, 4 year term

Citizens of Monticello,

My name is Craig Leavitt. I’m 59 and married to Dorothy; we have three children and seven grandchildren. I have been a resident of Monticello since 1962. I attended Monticello High School, served in the United States Army, worked for San Juan County Road Department and the Utah Department of Transportation for 25 years where I served in many positions, equipment operator and Station Supervisor. The last ten years I was Area Supervisor, responsible for six Maintenance Stations budgets and all the maintenance activities for a large geographic area.

I served six years on the Monticello City Council in the early 1990’s.

I maintained Monticello City parks for one season during which time I automated the irrigation systems in both City parks and the Visitors Center.

Committees I have served on include: VMTE, Veterans Memorial committee, Golf committee, The Big Four Tractor Restoration.

I have volunteered on number of projects in the City: Veterans Memorial, Visitors Center Landscaping, Golf Course, Tractor Pull, and the Mill Site trails.

I am seeking election for the four year term on the Monticello City Council. I am retired and have the time, talent, and expertise to assist the City during this changing and challenging time. I believe that, working together with the citizens of Monticello, we can affect positive change for Monticello. We need economic growth. We need to shrink government while making it more responsive to needs of the citizens. The City needs to partner with private business and recruit new industry but also encourage entrepreneurship. We need to support City employees and seek their help and ideas in making government more cost effective. We need to cut expenditures and live within our means while providing the services the residents expect.

I would appreciate your vote on November 3.

Thank you,
Craig R. Leavitt
