Easter services planned throughout county

Christians throughout San Juan County will mark the Easter season with a series of events culminating in Easter Sunday on April 20.
Many churches in the area have special services and activities planned. Several events have already occurred as Palm Sunday, which opens the Passion Week, was April 13.
The Community Church in Monticello will hold Good Friday Services on Friday, April 18 beginning at 7 p.m. The program will include music provided by the Bapitist Church in Dove Creek and a sermon by Gary Halls.
An Easter morning sunrise service will begin at 7 a.m., with breakfast served afterwards.
At the First Baptist Church in Monticello, a sunrise service begins at 7 a.m. followed by a breakfast, Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and a Morning Worship Service at 11 a.m.
The First Baptist Church in Blanding will hold Easter Sunday Services and Communion starting at 8 a.m. with breakfast following the services.
St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monticello will hold Mass, “The Lord’s Last Supper”, at 7:30 p.m. on Holy Thursday, April 17.
On April 18, a Good Friday Solemn Service begins at 6 p.m. Easter Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 in Moab.
The Easter Sunday Service begins at noon on April 20.
A number of Holy Week Services are planned at St. Christopher’s Mission in Bluff and St. John the Baptizer in Montezuma Creek.
On Maunday Thursday, Eucharist Foot Washingwill take place at St. Christopher’s Mission at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17
Good Friday Devotions are offered at St. Christopher’s Mission at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18.
 April 19: Easter Vigil and Eucharist is at St. John the Baptizer at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 19.
Easter Sunrise Service begins at 6:30 a.m. on the San Juan River. Directions signs will be on the Mission Road.
Festive Eucharist is at St. Christopher’s Mission at 10 a.m.
Local congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints hold sacrament services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. in Monticello, at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Blanding, and at 9 a.m. in Eastland and La Sal.
The San Juan Chamber of Commerce and Monticello High School National Honor Society will host an free community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19 at Veterans Memorial Park at 11 a.m. After the Easter Egg hunt, there will be a visit by the Easter bunny and free pizza from Thatzza Pizza.
