Schools to re-open in Southern San Juan tomorrow, families who can't travel safely should notify schools

The San Juan School District released an updated statement about school status for all schools across the district:

San Juan School District schools will operate on their normal schedule tomorrow, Friday September 18.
We recognize that flooding, mud, and impassable roads continue to affect some areas. If your student cannot travel safely to school, please notify your school’s administrator.
The absence will be excused, and your student will have an opportunity to make up any missed work.
Please put safety first and do not attempt to travel on unsafe roads.

Schools in Montezuma Creek, Bluff and Monument Valley were closed on Thursday September 17 after incredible flooding events made travel in the southern portion of the county difficult to navigate.
Heavy rain, muddy conditions and flooded roads proved a challenge for students to get home by bus on Wednesday September 16 and after extensive conversations the district made the decision to close schools in most of the river region. While Navajo Mountain High was in session, some community members reported trouble traveling there as well. Students that are bussed to Blanding schools were also unable to use the bus to get to school on September 17.

A flooding event in Two Grey Hills south of Shiprock, New Mexico on the Navajo Nation resulted in the death of three individuals in the early hours of Wednesday. According to reports from the Navajo Times.
