Academic All State 2026 Spring: Makenna Peterson Monticello Track & Field

Head Coach Jeff Hunt: “Years ago I was visiting a class, teaching an anti-bullying lesson. Makenna stopped me mid-sentence and said, “yes, you’re telling us to be nice to each other. We should be doing that anyway!” Over the years I have never heard any of Makenna’s coaches say they ever have to tell Makenna what she should already be doing. She just does it.
“In the classroom Makenna also just does it. She is an amazingly hard worker and knows simply how to get things done. Many understated her leadership on the track team this year, but when you have someone who just gets things done, that example bleeds down to everyone else on the team.”
