Sterling Scholar Runner-up- Averie Gilson - San Juan - Business & Marketing

The Runner-Up of the Business and Marketing Category is innovative and ambitious. She serves as President of the FBLA Club. She is actively involved in Student Council, NHS, HOSA, Youth Coalition, Peer Tutoring, Hope Squad, Seminary Council, Volleyball, Softball, and numerous other activities. Throughout her high school career, she has maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.7. She thrives in competitive environments and has placed at both the state and regional levels in multiple FBLA competitions. She has also earned All-State honors in Volleyball and Softball all four years in the 2A division. In addition, she owns a small business providing softball lessons to younger athletes in her community and serves as a volunteer student Emergency Medical Technician. Through her involvement in the Sterling Scholar and her many extracurricular activities, she has learned the importance of prioritization, hard work, and commitment. Qualities that have enabled her to pursue and achieve her goals. She plans to attend college, attain a Business Administration Major, open her own flower shop, and continue serving her community as an EMT. The runner-up of the Business and Marketing Category is the daughter of Brian and Jennifer Gilson, from San Juan High School, Averie Gilson.
