Sterling Scholar Winner - Jessica Black - San Juan - Drama & Vocal Performance
The winner of the Drama and Vocal Performance category is energetic and passionate about the performing arts. Throughout high school she appeared in over nine productions—including Little Women, Oh, Promise Me!, Phantom of the Opera, and Clue—exploring both dramatic and comedic roles.
In drama competitions, she earned awards in classical and contemporary scenes, dramatic monologues, and musical theater, including first place in dramatic monologue. Her love of performance extends beyond the stage. With a dramatic portrayal, she advanced to the National level of National History Day and performed vocal solos throughout the community.
In addition to performing, she served as president of the Drama Club and directed younger students in Christmas plays, helping them discover their own love of theater. Whether acting, singing, directing, or working behind the scenes with lighting and sets, she learned that great performances are built on teamwork, dedication, and resilience. She plans to pursue a degree in Theater Arts Education so that she can inspire the next generation of performers.
The winner of the Drama and Vocal Performance category is the daughter of Steve and Shauna Black from San Juan High School: Jessica Black!
