FBI unfair and dishonest

Dear Editor:

What I read in the February 5 San Juan Record set me back a notch in disbelief: “Bureau pays half of reward”

It is hard to believe the FBI could be so unfair and dishonest to feel Eric Bayles does not deserve the whole reward for finding McVean’s remains. Are they discriminating against Eric because he’s a white man or because he’s a cowboy and think a poor man shouldn’t have enough money to live comfortably?

Too each and every one of you who came up with this decision, I hope you never enjoy another bite of beef or enjoy another hamburger without thinking about the cowboy you cheated out of his reward. His find closed a case! Everyone who heard this story wanted McVean’s remains to be found, so we could feel safe knowing one murderer was off the streets.

Eric has rode a horse as many miles as you have rode in your car making his family a living and helping to put beef on your tables, only to have the FBI to bring disgust and disgrace to our government by not standing up to their promise. Wasn’t it as important to find McVean as it was to find Pilon? Eric Bayles should have the full $150,000 reward!

Mad,

J.P. and Maxine Johnson
