Flipping Flea Market to invade Monticello
The Flipping Flea Market is set to invade Monticello this weekend in the second annual version of events sponsored by the Monticello Rotary club.
The main events begin on Main Street in Monticello beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014.
A large number of vendors selling handcrafted items, antiques, arts and crafts, homemade food, rummage sale items, and more will be spread north and south along Main Street.
The Blue Mountain Bicycle Chase will begin at 9 a.m. with a 4.3-mile hill climb for bicycle racers. In addition, there is a 3.4-mile mountain bike time trial at the Monticello Uranium Millsite and Wildlife Park.
To register for the Blue Mountain chase, e-mail Oliver@MonticelloUtah.org.
In addition to the main events on Saturday, there will be a whole host of events on Friday, including a Dutch Oven dinner beginning at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Rotary Park. The dinner will feature Dutch oven delicacies for $7 per person or $25 for a full family.
On Saturday at the Pioneer Rotary Park, a Dutch Oven cookoff will begin at 11:30 a.m.
First prize for the cookoff is a two-burner Camp Chef. There will be a competition for potatoes, desserts, and entrées.
A Bake Off will also test the breads, desserts and cookies created by local bakers. Judging begins at 11 a.m. at Pioneer Park.

The inaugural Flipping Flea Market was held in 2013 and was wildly successful, according to organizers.
There will be a car show, a bounce house for kids and lots and lots of fun.
Rotary club officials add that there are a host of additional activities in the Monticello area that should provide fun for all.
