Health Board tours building, reviews goals

The San Juan Health Service District board met in new facilities as they reviewed 2017 and looked to the future.
The board met at the new San Juan Clinic in Blanding on February 15. After touring the facility, they discussed an agenda that included a review of 2017 financial reports and the district’s vision, values, and goals.
The vision of the health service district is: “Motivated by our commitment to excellence, San Juan Health Service District will be the best place to receive care, the best place to work, and the best place to practice medicine. We will serve as an invaluable resource to the people and communities we support.”
The district operates San Juan Hospital, in addition to clinics and outreach efforts in San Juan County.
The health service district reported $19,396,867 in total income in 2017. This represents a ten percent increase over the previous year. Clinic revenue increased by 25.6 percent, while hospital revenue increased by more than $1.5 million.
Cash reserves continued to grow, increasing from $2,955,527 on December 31, 2016 to $4,538,300 one year later. The fund balance exceeds $8 million.
Cash reserves have been impacted by expenses related to the new clinic and the new MRI equipment.
