Jason Chaffetz is committed to fighting for Fiscal Discipline, Limited Government, Accountability, and strong National Defense. Mr. Chaffetz has led on fiscal discipline within his own office operations by returning over $1.1 million to the National Treasury over his four terms.
Congressman Chaffetz serves as the Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
In this role he holds our federal government accountable by bringing public exposure of government waste, fraud, and abuse. He is the first chairman of this committee from the Intermountain Region, and places a strong emphasis on oversight of western and rural issues. Jason Chaffetz is Utah’s most effective watchdog in Washington, fighting for the people of Utah.
Congressman Chaffetz knows and understands the issues rural Utahns face. He enjoys traveling San Juan county and is working to better the lives of its residents. He has been successful in applying pressure so the Montezuma Creek Post Office received a much needed facelift.
These last few years he has worked closely with the San Juan County Commission to increase funding and accountability from the Bureau of Indian Affairs to better maintain school bus routes on Navajo Nation.
Congressman Chaffetz is working diligently to stop the overreach of the federal government when it comes to the use of the Antiquities Act and the designation of a Monument.
Congressman Chaffetz is also working to eliminate BLM and Forest Service law enforcement and give all enforcement authority to the county sheriff, where it belongs.
Congressman Chaffetz looks forward to continuing the fight to demand openness and accountability from the Federal Government.
