Jim Slavens

Jim Slavens has made his home in Blanding for the past 54 years. Slavens married and raised his family in Blanding and feels the community has been good to him and his family.
Slavens is a successful businessman, now retired, and feels he has time to devote to improving the city.
Slavens feels that his previous service on the Blanding City Council, as well serving as the Mayor for one term, has given him valuable experience to serve again.
Slavens believes in giving service to others and in working at something that is worthwhile and feels he will serve the City well as a member of the council.
As a member of the Blanding City Council, Slavens hopes to be able to encourage other citizens to get involved in the community and become passionate about the success of Blanding.
While knowing there will be differing opinions on important issues, Slavens feels it is important to work together as a community, bringing different ideas to the table and striving to arrive at the best answer for the town. 
“There is more than one side to every issue,” says Slavens, “Every opinion should be respected by all.”
