Just how large is 1.9 million acres?

The proposed Bears Ears National Monument, at 1.9 million acres, would constitute 38 percent of the entire landmass of San Juan County. San Juan County is the largest county in Utah and one of the largest counties in the United States.
With a designation, the new land use reality in San Juan County would include:
National Park System (most restrictive): 12 percent
Native American reservations (most restrictive): 25 percent
National monument (more restricted): 38 percent
BLM / Forest Service (multiple use): 12 percent
State lands (multiple use): 5 percent
Private lands (owner use): 8 percent
While Bluff was the location of the federal public hearing on the national monument, Bluff is actually at the corner of the proposed monument.
If you traveled north out of Bluff on Highway 191, for the next 100 miles almost all of the public land in San Juan County, west of the highway, would be in the monument.
If you traveled west out of Bluff on the Hole in the Rock Trail, for the next 95 miles every step of the way and almost all of the public land north of the road in San Juan County, would be in the monument.
The proposed national monument is 2.25 times larger than all five Utah National Parks combined.
The proposed national monument is larger than the European countries of Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, San Marino, Monaco, and Vatican City combined.
The proposed national monument is larger than Rhode Island and Delaware.
The proposed national monument is ten times larger than New York City.
