Blanding native returns to musical roots

Dr. Kent Lyman will perform Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m. in the San Juan High School (SJHS) auditorium as part of the Kigalia Fine Arts concert season. He is a Steinway Artist.
Dr. Lyman is an outstanding SJHS alumni. He is the son of Denece and Francis Lyman who spearheaded a well-known dance band for over 20 years.
Dr. Lyman fully embraced his father’s passion and skill.
As a Steinway Artist, he has traveled and performed extensively throughout the United States, South Korea, China, Brazil, and Italy.
He has appeared with a number of orchestras in the Carolinas and Florida and has collaborated with many of the leading musicians in the state of North Carolina and elsewhere.
Dr. Lyman started his music career as a piano student in San Juan County.
He earned his Bachelor of Music at the University of Utah and his Masters and Doctorate degrees of music from Indiana University.
He is thrilled to return to his musical roots and has a special program planned for the occasion.
He is also very excited to be able to perform on the finest of instruments, a Steinway Concert grand piano that is being brought in from Las Vegas, NV especially for this occasion.
In addition to the concert on Friday, March 8, Kent Lyman will offer a Piano Clinic to all piano teachers and students in the area who are interested on Saturday, March 9 in the San Juan High School auditorium. 
The clinic will run from 9 a.m. until noon.  The cost is $10 per person, up to $20 per family. 
Kent is excited to give as many piano students an opportunity to perform on the Steinway grand piano (provided by Dayne’s Music) as possible. 
The cost of the clinic will go towards the cost of providing the Steinway.
