Free day of art, history, and science
The Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum will feature a free and fun day of activities on Saturday, September 21.
At 10 am artist/archaeologist Joe Pachak will lead a tour to discuss the Solar Sculpture on the museum’s campus.
At noon the museum will host the opening for “Sinagua,” an exhibit by photographer Steve Bridgehouse of the pueblo architecture and landscapes of Wupatki National Monument (in nearby northern Arizona).
At 2 pm archaeologists Connie Massingale and Jonathan Till will present a discussion of the whole vessel collection at Edge of the Cedars (over 800 vessels) as a part of the Four Corners Lecture Series.
Throughout the day, Hopi artist Duane Tawahongva will be on-site demonstrating his work as a maker of jewelry.
Visitors may also see the new exhibit, “100 Years of Silence” (with thanks to the communities of White Mesa and Towaoc).
Tours of the museum’s repository and the Edge of the Cedars Pueblo are also offered.
