Christmas on the Farm

“Christmas on the Farm,” the second year of a family-fun event hosted by Farm Bureau and Lewis Farms, will run from 5 to 9 p.m. beginning Friday December 19, continuing on Saturday December 20, and finishing on Monday, December 22.
“Christmas on the Farm” is an outdoor walking tour at Lewis Farms, between Monticello and Blanding. The fun includes a variety of things to see and do with more than a dozen stops along the way.
Lewis Farms is on the east side of Highway 191, approximately five miles south of Monticello. Watch for lights and follow signs to Lewis Farms to park your car.
The cost is $8 per person. Tickets can be purchased at ChristmasontheFarmSJC.com, at the gate, at Creative Floors in Blanding, or at Farm Bureau at 432 E. Center in Monticello.
It will take an estimated hour and a half to participate in all of the scheduled activities, so dress warm for this all-outdoor December activity.
First stop on the tour is the “Winter Fantasy”, which travels through a tunnel to the ‘Woodland Forest,’ where a brief movie will be shown.
Next is the “Cocoa Café”, then the “Peppermint Forest” and a hot donut.
Visit “Mistletoe Manor” with a chance to leave Christmas wishes, then recreate “A Christmas Story” (complete with the leg lamp!)
Visit the ‘Last Stop Christmas Shop’ for stocking stuffers and last minute items still on your shopping list. (The tour price does not include items purchased from the Shop.)
Walking through an expanded ‘Winter Wonderland’ and into the village of ‘Whoville’, you will meet the Grinch and enjoy feeling like a Who around the Christmas tree where the Whos’s gather to sing on Christmas morning.
“Joy to the World” features Nativities from around the world, and then to ‘Santa’s Workshop,’ a veritable wonderland of toys, gifts, an eight-foot chandelier, electric train sets, and Lego Christmas villages as well as the jolly old man himself!
The next stop is to visit Mrs Claus’ Kitchen and an expanded Nativity.
Top this off with the chance to make a wish and send it off via ‘Floating Lanterns,’ just like Rapunzel does in the Disney movie, “Tangled.”
Finally, you can roast a s’more as you wait for a shuttle back to your vehicle.
Event organizer Shanna Black said she is excited for year two of Christmas on the Farm. Black said that the event is an opportunity to give back to the community.
