Kigalia Fine Arts begins busy fall season events

When fall begins, think of colorful leaves, a brisk scent in the air, football and Kigalia Fine Arts’ Season!  This cultural, all-volunteer, non-profit group serves our entire county providing musical performances, art exhibitions, and good times at affordable prices!
Kicking off our season this year with a big bang, was Johnny Miner, bagpipe player! If you love Highland music, this was the event!  
Kigalia Fine Arts’ season will include a wide variety of focus.  On October 8 Los Hermanos will favor us with Andean Folk Music.  For nearly 30 years this group has preserved their ancient musical heritage with authentic ethnic instruments dating back to the ancient Inca civilization.
On November 9 Desert Heartstrings, an Americana duo, will play with their folk-rock songs with tight vocal harmonies and a rich tapestry of folk instruments, including acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, kick drum, and tambourine. Adding a modern twist, they integrate live loop pedal recordings into their performances, creating a layered, immersive sound experience.
In conjunction with community groups, The Messiah will perform its 49th community concert.  It’s a Sing Along so be sure to order your score online.
We like to encourage the Rotary Club’s Luminary Walk free to all. Saturday December 12 and Monday, December 14th.
The Utah Symphony will be making its biennial visit on January 14.  It’s a smaller travelling group exposing our children and community to first class musicians.
The week after on January 21, 2027, Moccasin Games will be hosted.  This is a traditional winter activity in the Navajo tradition conducted only between October to February. The event is filled with specific animal songs, laughter, and storytelling, serving as an important cultural gathering to pass down values of teamwork, patience, and resilience to younger generations. 
Kigalia’s intent is not only to bring professional talent to the area, but also to help develop our own.  On April 12 San Juan on Stage will showcase the remarkable singers and musicians who live in the county. Come support your neighbors and friends and be awed by their abilities.
Local visual artists will display their significant abilities at the Edge of the Cedars Museum annual Art Show.  Several professional artists reside in the county and rival the best in the country.  The show opens May 1, 2027, but the submission deadline is April 7 via email.  
In conjunction with the Edge of the Cedars, Kigalia promotes the Art Market, a plethora of vendors who sell their professional wares during the Edge of the Cedars annual Archaeology Day, the first Saturday of May.
Community members are encouraged to support Kigalia Fine Arts.  The arts are not merely an added nicety but often can improve health and education outcomes while fostering community cohesion. We can continue to pass on heritage while driving economic growth all the while improving our quality of life. It is crucial for a thriving society.
Open your pocketbooks, so we can continue to bring arts to San Juan County. The cost for an entire family in one household for an entire season is $80, the same price for the past three years.  A single pass is $40.  
Remember that these performers are coming to San Juan County.  You don’t need to pay for gas, food, or lodging to hear and see these professional entertainers.  It’s a deal in anyone’s book.
