Mitchell is honored by state for her work in prevention services

Alyn Mitchell has been nominated and recently received the 2025 Merlin F. Goode prevention award from the State of Utah.
Alyn’s contributions both locally and statewide are a testament to her dedication to substance use prevention.
Alyn is a proud preventionist and serves on many state training planning committees to help shape the future of prevention.
She also champions prevention with other sectors. For example, Alyn serves on the planning committee of the Promising Youth Conference for counselors and educators.
For the past two years, she has helped make sure that prevention related content was included at this well attended conference leading to new collaboration opportunities and new prevention partners for our coalitions statewide.
Alyn currently serves at the Chair of the Utah Prevention Network. Her optimism and positive energy help the meetings to be not only productive but fun.
Residing in rural San Juan County, no matter where the monthly UPN meetings are held, Alyn usually has to drive significantly further than most.
In spite of this, she’s always there and with a smile on her face.
In San Juan County, Alyn brings folks together in a way that fosters strong cross-sector partnerships for SJCPAC’s coalition.
Alyn has a natural rapport with her community and has developed a relationship of trust with Navajo tribal leaders and members in her area.
She has worked tirelessly to spread their prevention efforts throughout her geographically large county.
She also ensures that her adult and youth coalition members have the same travel and training opportunities as other coalitions, despite the barrier of distance.
Alyn is a proud prevention advocate, a respected leader, a force for change and most of all, a kind friend.
Her contributions have already made a huge impact in her community, region and our state. The application wholeheartedly recommended Alyn Mitchell for this well-deserved recognition.
