Meet Monticello’s new City Manager

Myron W. Lee took the reins of day-to-day operations at the Monticello City office on March 31. He comes to the job with a broad background in public relations, communications and management.
Lee grew up in Tooele, and served an LDS Mission in the Philippines. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in communications and public relations and went to work for the Tooele Transcript Bulletin, where he won several Utah Press Association Awards for excellence in journalism. Lee finished a master’s degree in public administration in February 2008 at the University of Phoenix.
“My goal for years has been to work hard and get myself into a position to be able to be the manager of a city,” he said. “I am humbled with the scope of the challenge that lies ahead here in Monticello.”
In 1993, Lee became the Public Information Officer for Tooele County’s Emergency Management Unit. Over the next seven years, he had a broad experience in research, development, evaluating public information campaigns, responding to media inquiries, designing and creating print materials, supervising a college internship program, managing the public relations budget and regularly updating the County’s media and crisis communication plans.
In 2000, Lee became the Public Involvement Manager for the Utah Department of Transportation’s Southern Division based in Richfield. His principle responsibilities were to direct media relations campaigns, coordinate UDOT plans with mayors, city councils and county commissioners throughout southern Utah, manage inter-agency consensus building activities and engage the various public entities in the transportation decision-making processes.
He has been a volunteer in various capacities such as becoming a certified firefighter in the Tooele Fire Department, vice president of finance for IABC/Utah and has been a foster parent.
His wife, Korin, hails from Napa, CA. They are the parents of four children, Katrina – 16; Alex – 15; MaKai – 6; and Tanisha – 5.
His family will remain in Richfield until school is out, at which time the family will move to Monticello.
Lee said he and his family love the outdoors and they are excited about their new opportunities here in Monticello.
