Monte Wells

My name is Monte Wells. My background includes 15 years as a combat medic in the Army, Army National Guard & Reserves, and working in private security, local, county, and federal law enforcement. I obtain a degree in Anthropology/ Archaeology from Boise State University and my wife and I have lived in Monticello for 10 years. We have six children with one in collage, three at the Monticello High School, and two still in elementary school. In 2004 we started our own business called, “Your Map Source, LLC” and “Off The Beaten Path Maps” dba.
We have grown this business from a part time endeavor to a full time job. Our map products are featured in hunting magazines and on cable outdoor programs. We have expanded our business from mapping to outdoor equipment and tactical gear and firearms. I am actively involved in political issues that we are facing as a nation, county, and city. As a result we just started an online news website called “The Petroglyph.” The Petroglyph was established to set the record straight on environmental issues. I also operate a Facebook page called, “A Voice for the People of San Juan County Utah” where folks can find out what is going on and have a place to voice their opinions and concerns.
Being a small business owner I care about what happens in Monticello and the surrounding area. This is why I have been actively involved with local, county, state, and federal government politics. I am one of the few if not the only private business owner running for city council during this election. I believe that as a private business owner it will allow me to bring another perspective to the table. I also believe it makes me more aware of some of the challenges that private businesses are facing today.
