Monticello City Manager tenders his resignation

Monticello City Manager Greg Westfall tendered his resignation on October 22, one day after a special meeting of the Monticello City Council.
Westfall had served as the City Manager since April, 2013. Prior to that, he worked as the Assistant City Manager and Recreation Director beginning in 2010.
The City Council met in closed session with legal council for approximately 80 minutes on October 21. Westfall was not in attendance at the closed session.
After the closed session, the draft minutes state that the Council voted 4-1 to offer Westfall full salary and benefits through the remainder of the calendar year. Councilman Steve Duke voted against the motion.
Westfall tendered his resignation the following day.
The council is scheduled to appoint an interim city manager at their October 28 meeting.
