Desert Rivers Credit Union opens new branch location in Monticello
Desert Rivers Credit Union opened their newest branch in Monticello with plenty of fanfare on Friday, September 11.
The Monticello branch grand opening included music from the Monticello High School marching band, horse-drawn carriage rides, lunch, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Ahead of the ribbon cutting, leadership of the credit union took some time to speak to those in attendance.
Vice President Taylor Harrison said the credit union knew they wanted to buy the former Wells Fargo building located on Center and Main in Monticello. “It’s a great location for us as far as being in the center of town and having good visibility.
“But one of the biggest things for me was I didn’t want an empty dilapidated building in the center of Monticello.
“We were able to fix a problem like that in Blanding with our location down there, and we wanted to get ahead of that, not have this become an eye sore to the community, and something that people think of when they think of Monticello is an old empty building on the four way stop.”
The new branch manager is Monticello resident Kraig Black. The location is now open with full service and expanded hours and includes a drive-up window, drive-up ATM, and the ability to acquire both personal and mortgage loans.
The branch is the fourth in the area. Other branches are located in Blanding, Moab, and Green River.
