Repaving project on Center St in Monticello
Work started on August 25 to rejuvinate over two miles of pavement on U.S. Highway 491 from Monticello Main Street past the port of entry.
Work by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) includes removing a top layer of asphalt and then repaving.
Select pedestrian ramps on East Center Street will also be replaced, along with upgrades to guardrail and signs.
The project will also include concrete paving at the port-of-entry ramps and adjusting the height of water valves and manholes throughout the project to match the new pavement surface.
The contractor anticipates working Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with potential work on Saturdays.
Lanes will be restricted to 12-foot widths seven days a week and 24 hours a day for the duration of the project.
Highway paving is expected to be completed in October, with the entire project completed by the end of the year.
