Wildfire burns on side of Navajo Mountain

A wildfire dubbed the Bridge Creek Fire is being monitored on the northwest side of Navajo Mountain. According to Navajo Fire Management for the BIA, the fire burned about 334 acres since it was first reported on June 13.
At latest report, there is no immediate threat to the community at Navajo Mountain. A crew of 12 workers are monitoring the fire.
Aerial assets are working to limit fire spreading into Horse Shoe Canyon which could treatment communication towers. The first is located in steep and hazardous terrain meaning direct engagement is not an option.
