Kurt Lewis (center) is the new president of the Monticello Utah Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lewis is joined in the Stake Presidency by councilors Steve Duke (left) and John Fellmeth (right).
The Monticello Stake consists of eight congregations, including four wards in Monticello and smaller branches in Eastland, La Sal, Paradox, CO and the correctional facility in Monticello. There are approximately 1,800 members of the church in the stake.
The new stake presidency was announced and approved at a stake conference on September 20. The call was extended by visiting authorities Elder Lawrence E. Corbridge of the First Quorum of the Seventy and area authority K. Mark Frost. A stake presidency generally serves for nine or ten years.
Lewis replaces Scott Boyle as stake president. Boyle was assisted by counselors Paul Sonderegger and Kurt Lewis.
