Hopefuls seek open spots on city councils

In Monticello, seven residents will seek the three open spots on the Monticello City Council.
They include incumbent Nathan Chamberlain along with Ron Skinner, Mary Cokenour, Kim Henderson, Ammon Boswell, Scott Christensen, and Jonathon English.
The two incumbents not seeking reelection are Blaine Nebeker and KC Olson.
A primary election will be necessary in Monticello, as there are seven candidates for the three open positions. The primary election is August 13.
In Blanding, four residents are seeking the three open spots on the Blanding City Council, including all three incumbents – Logan Shumway, Logan Monson, and Kd Perkins – in addition to Trent Herring.
In Bluff, incumbents Brant Murray and Jim Sayers signed up for another term on the Bluff Town Council. The initial town council election was less than two years ago, with two-year terms for Murray and Sayers in order to have a staggered election in the future.
All open positions in all three communities are for four-year terms.
The general election will be held on November 5.
