Law enforcement officials respond to threat at SJHS

A social media threat on September 30 has resulted in an increased law enforcement presence at San Juan High School.

School officials state that the threat to the school has been addressed and there is no imminent danger to students or staff.

Officials were unable to provide details on who made the threat, but said it was made by a specific individual whom they were able to identify with law enforcement officials.

The threat was made on Instagram on Monday evening and included “some specifics of intent to cause harm at San Juan High School,” according to a district official.

The official added that within 15 minutes, school and law enforcement officials had actively responded to, and addressed, the threat.

“Safety has been a recent focus of the district, and our training protocols were carefully followed,” said Superintendent Ron Nielson.

“We were involved very quickly and will continue to work closely with law enforcement.”
