Monticello native is Salt Lake Police Chief

Monticello native Brian Redd has been named police chief for the Salt Lake City Police Department. 
Redd is currently serving as the executive director of the Utah Department of Corrections. Before that appointment, he worked as vice president of Goldman Sachs’s Compliance Division.
Previously, he served for 21 years in the Utah Department of Public Safety, starting as a state trooper in southeast Utah and ending as director for the State Bureau of Investigation and Statewide Information and Analysis Center.
Redd brings extensive law enforcement experience and strong collaborative leadership to Salt Lake City.
“I’m looking forward to supporting and serving with the great women and men of the Salt Lake City Police Department,” said Redd.
“My goal is to come in and listen to all levels within the organization and our community members on how we can best serve.”
Redd is a graduate of Monticello High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Utah State University and a master’s in public administration from Brigham Young University. He is also a graduate of Northwestern University’s Police Staff and Command School.
He also established the first victim services program and co-responder team in the Utah Department of Public Safety.
