Top 2024 stories on Redrock podcast

Interviews about high school sports, Bears Ears National Monument, local cities and schools were among the top listened-to programs of the Redrock Morning Show in 2024.

The morning show is broadcast on 92.7 FM each weekday at 9 a.m. and features news for the Four Corners area, with particular emphasis on San Juan County.

In addition to the live broadcast, the show is recorded and available as a podcast for audiences to listen to at their leisure. One link is on the Redrock92.com website

According to available metrics, the following were the top 10 most downloaded shows of 2024.

November 20 The most downloaded podcast of 2024 was a conversation with San Juan High football coaches Barkley Christensen and Bobby Bowring along with members of the team. Members of the Bronco’s football team joined to talk about their fourth straight title, the championship game, and the season as a whole.

2024 2A State Championship game The second most downloaded podcast was a recording of the 92.7 FM teams call of the 2A football state championship game with Rhett Sifford and Art Adair on the call for the title game

2024 Utah 1A Boys State Champion Cross-Country team The third most downloaded podcast of the year was a conversation with members of the Monticello cross country team. Coach Jeff Hunt and varsity runners on the boys championship team and the girls runner-up team all joined to talk about the state meet and their season.

October 4 The fourth most downloaded podcast of the year was an exclusive conversation with Monticello BLM Field Manager Jake Palma and Assistant Field Manager Rachel Wooten about the Bears Ears National Monument Draft Plan. The pair answered questions about the monument draft plan including how decisions were reached and what the management of the monument would look like moving forward.

May 2 The fifth most downloaded podcast was a conversation with Brent Johannsen and Maury Bergman of SPEAR to talk about the groups opposition to the closure of motorized access to Arch Canyon as considered as part of the Bears Ears draft plan.

May 3 The sixth most downloaded podcast included a report on US congress passing a bill banning Russian Uranium imports. With an emphasis on domestic uranium production impacting the area which has historically seen uranium mining as well as the active White Mesa Mill which is the only active Uranium processing mill in the US.

Jan 31 The seventh most downloaded podcast included a report on Monticello city’s decision to return donated solar panels. City council had a split vote on the issue ultimately deciding that the infrastructure investment to install the panels was not worth the cities effort, the panels were later redirected to the town of Bluff.

Jan 26 The eight most downloaded podcast centered around Navajo Mountain. With one report noting the school had gone to remote learning for the day due to snow, another report related to Navajo Nation Council efforts to promote a road connecting Navajo Mountain to Oljato. The episode also featured a report on San Juan Commission discussions about taxes and Sage-grouse.

Mar 1 The ninth most downloaded podcast centered on the news that funding from the state had been secured by San Juan Health to build a new hospital in Monticello. The episode also featured a report on a visit from the Navajo Nation Council Law and Order Committee to Whitehorse High

Mar 8 The 10th most downloaded podcast had a report about the city of Monticello honoring volunteers. The episode also featured regional news including a Lewis, Colorado woman sentenced for murder of her husband and a fatal hit and run near the Navajo Burnham Chapter in New Mexico.
