Wild fire on east edge of Monticello
A wild fire on the eastern edge of Monticello has consumed less than five acres of grass and several outbuildings. The fire broke out at about 10 a.m. on June 13 in windy and dry conditions. Several fire engines and tankers responded to the blaze, and the crews were still fighting the flames as of 11:30 a.m.
How the fire started has yet to be confirmed but it may have been triggered in grass between the Double LL Saddle Tree building and the Pinto electrical substation. The flames quickly moved north in the windy conditions, where they have burned several outbuildings.
More updates will be made as the story develops.
