Afton Barton Frost

October 10, 1922 ~ July 12, 2014
Afton Barton Frost was born on October 10, 1922 in Monticello, UT to George Franklin Barton and Sarah Elizabeth Perkins Barton.  
Afton was the fifth of six children to live to maturity. She grew up in a loving family-centered home where she enjoyed close relationships with extended family.
Afton attended elementary and high school in Monticello. After graduation, she worked as a nanny in New York City. In 1946, Afton was called on an 18-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in Ohio and Indiana.
Soon after she returned home from her mission, she was persuaded by a wonderful local boy, Wendell Wilford Frost, to become his wife. They were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on January 30, 1948.
Afton was a faithful member of the church and served in various ward and stake callings. She and her dear companion attended the temple together throughout their lives. One of their greatest blessings came when the Monticello LDS Temple was built. They attended the temple several times a week.
Afton was a wonderful cook. She loved gardening and enjoyed growing flowers. She was always busy serving others and caring for her large family.
In 2007, Afton and Wendell moved, due to health concerns to Mesa, AZ. Wendell passed away in 2010 and Afton joined him on July 12, 2014.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Thora, Oral, Audra, Eloise and Evan H. 
Afton is survived by her eight children, Jaynann (Cedric) Coleman, Jack (Kristine) Frost, Jolene (Brent) Kempton, Joycelyn (Alan) Fox, Dee (Vida) Frost, Judy (Alan) Nelson, Jeri (Don) Stanger, Jana (Mike) Spencer; 41 grandchildren and 42 plus great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 18, 2014 in Monticello, UT.
Afton was laid to rest in the Monticello Cemetery.
