Candidate for San Juan County Attorney
The county attorney advises your elected officials, county boards and service districts on their civil matters, and is responsible for prosecution of criminal cases.
The County Attorney’s office has run successfully and efficiently for the past 28 years. In that time I have served on the boards of the Statewide Association of Prosecutors and Utah Prosecution Council. I have been recognized a Top Prosecutor in 2007 and 2012 and was voted by peers as a Utah Elite Public Attorney in 2009.
I was born and raised in Monticello. I attended the University of Utah and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Finance and Management and later returned and completed a Juris Doctorate Law Degree. I spent close to a year clerking for a District Court Judge, and prosecuting for Salt Lake City for the next two years. After moving back to San Juan County I became the prosecutor for the City of Blanding. In subsequent years I gained a wealth of experience.

Just as in any profession a diploma alone does not qualify a person for a job. Law school teaches a person how to study, not how to practice law. The practice of law is learned by the experience of doing it. Experience in this industry is a necessity.

I was elected to San Juan County attorney after practicing law for close to eight years. I relied heavily on my experience to effectively run the County Attorney’s office and have continued to gain experience that has made the office a professional and formidable force with defense attorneys across the state.
I am running for re-election because I believe that the integrity of the office requires a certain level of experience.
