Easter events scheduled

The Easter season means many things in San Juan County. In addition to local residents, there are a large number of visitors to the area, and they will be able to participate in Easter services at area churches.
Holy Week events began on Palm Sunday and will culminate on Easter. In Monticello, a non-denominational musical concert was held on March 29.
The First Baptist Church in Monticello will hold a Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, followed by a breakfast. Sunday School will be at 9:45 a.m. and regular worship service at 11 a.m.
Construction crews continue to make progress on a new St. Josephs Catholic Church in Monticello. This will be the last Easter season at the old church, which has served the Catholic community in San Juan County for more than 70 years.
St. Josephs Catholic Church events begin with Holy Thursday, April 2 in Moab at 5 p.m. Good Friday Services will be held in Monticello on April 3 at 7 p.m. An Easter Vigil will be on Saturday, April 4 at 8 p.m. in Moab. On Easter Sunday, April 5, the service will begin at noon.
San Juan Community Evangelical in Monticello will hold Sunday Morning Sunrise Services at 7 a.m. on April 5, followed by a fellowship breakfast. Everyone is welcome.
St. Christopher Mission in Bluff will hold a Good Friday service at 6 p.m. on April 3.  On Sunday, April 5 will be a Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m., Easter Potluck Brunch at 8 a.m., Children’s Service at 9 a.m., and Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m.
St. John the Baptizer in Montezuma Creek will hold Holy Thursday foot washing and sacrament at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 2. An Easter Eve Service begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. An Easter Potluck Dinner begins at 7:30 p.m.
At St. Mary Oljeto, an Easter Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 5.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold General Conference on Saturday and Sunday.
