Lady Buckaroos dominate Pinnacle in 2A Central matchup

For the second time this season, the Monticello High School softball team matched up with the Pinnacle Lady Panthers, with the Lady Buckaroos landing a commanding performance.
The decisive 19-8 victory came on Wednesday, April 16, with Monticello playing one of their most complete games of the season.
All fans, regardless of motivation, were treated to an offensive explosion as they witnessed a total of 27 players crossing the plate. Five of those runs came on bases-loaded walks, a rare occurrence in softball.
The Lady Bucks finished with 19 runs on just four hits while showing impressive patience at the plate, earning 20 bases on balls.
Leading the charge for Monticello, Jocelyne Francom drove in four runs on a single hit, including a crucial RBI single in a massive fourth inning.
The Lady Buckaroos exploded for ten runs in that frame, effectively sealing the game. Hannah Barry anchored the pitching effort with a complete game, striking out 15 Lady Panthers while allowing eight runs on six hits.
On the offensive side Monticello started strong with five first-inning runs. The scoring parade continued with one in the second and three more in the third before the decisive fourth inning.
Marli Snyder, Francom, and Hannah and Taylor Barry collected hits, while several players showed excellent plate discipline. Shaydin Freestone, Tessa Slade, and Sam McDonald each drew three walks to lead the team.
Monticello is down to the last four games of their regular season. They opened the current week with a rivalry matchup against Grand County on Tuesday, April 22.
The girls hit the road for a trip south to take on a rare opponent – the Monument Valley, AZ Lady Mustangs – on Wednesday, April 23.
On Tuesday, April 29 the Lady Bucks play the last two games of the regular season in a region doubleheader against Wayne in Monticello.
