Lady Raiders build momentum with wins

After starting the season with one win and one loss in November the Whitehorse High School girls basketball team has won three of their last four games in the past two weeks.
Their only loss came in overtime to Piute this past Friday, December 12 by a final of 61-53 in Montezuma Creek.
Wins came at Rock Point, AZ (78-44) on December 2, at Red Mesa, AZ, December 10 (70-39), and Bryce Valley at home on Saturday, December 13 by a final of 58-45.
Stats for six of the eight games the girls have played are posted. In those games Keiarra Martin is the Lady Raiders’ leading scorer with a very impressive average of 31.2 points per game.
Hannah Clark was averaging 16.5 points per game, Lakyara Begay 5.2, Maria Yellowman 2.7, and Kaleigh Chee 1.8.
Martin’s amazing 29 three-point baskets was tops on the team, but Clark had contributed eight threes and Yellowman three.
Begay had pulled down a team-high 38 rebounds, Martin 36, Chee 23, Malia Sam 20, and Clark 16. Martin led the team with 33 assists and Clark had 22.
Martin also had an impressive 33 assists while Clark had 22. Martin had snagged 35 steals with Clark tallying 29 and Begay 14. Clark led the team with four blocked shots, Martin three, and Begay and Chee two each.
The Whitehorse girls are gearing up for a busy conclusion to the 2025 portion of the season at the SFE Holiday Classic in Chinle, AZ this Friday and Saturday, December 19-20.
They’ll face Navajo Prep, NM, and Red Mesa, AZ on Friday, then Chinle, AZ, and Mountain View, AZ on Saturday.
