Blanding City Lifetime Achievement Award
The City of Blanding recently presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Steve and Adell Lovell in recognition of their extraordinary dedication, leadership, and service to the youth of the community. The Lovells took a place of honor in the Independence Day Parade in Blanding on July 4.
Blanding Mayor Trevor Olsen stated, “For decades, Steve and Adell Lovell devoted their lives to educate, mentor, and inspire generations of young people in Blanding.
“Through their service as educators, Scout leaders, and community volunteers, they have left an enduring legacy that continues to shape the lives of countless families in San Juan County. They are the proud parents of six kids, 23 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 25 foster children.
“As a respected teacher, Steve Lovell was known for his commitment to academic excellence, his ability to motivate students, and his genuine concern for the success and well-being of every child who entered his classroom.
“His influence extended far beyond academics as he encouraged integrity, responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning. Former students recall his creativity, patience, and the positive impact he had on their lives.
“Together, Steve and Adell exemplified the values of Scouting and youth leadership. Through countless hours spent organizing activities, mentoring young people, teaching outdoor skills, and promoting service to others, they helped guide young men and women toward becoming responsible citizens and community leaders.
“They both taught English in Croatia and Siberia for both humanitarian and mission service. Their example of selfless service has inspired generations to live with honor, courage, and compassion.
“Lovells’ influence reaches far beyond individual accomplishments. Their investment in the lives of youth has strengthened families, enriched schools, and contributed to the character and vitality of the Blanding community.
“Many who were taught, mentored, or encouraged by Steve and Adell have gone on to become leaders, professionals, parents, and volunteers who continue the tradition of service they exemplified.
“The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented with deep gratitude and admiration for a lifetime spent building futures, strengthening character, and making Blanding a better place.
“Steve and Adell Lovell represent the very best of our community—individuals whose quiet dedication and unwavering commitment have made a lasting difference in the lives of generations.
