San Juan boys golf begins with quick pace, solid play

The San Juan High School boys golf team got the 2026 season started this past week with a couple of strong rounds in Monticello and Moab on August 4 and 5.
At the Hideout on Tuesday, August 4, the Broncos shot a team score of 367 to finish in fifth among the seven Region 18 teams in attendance.
Beaver won the match with a team score of 311, South Sevier was second with a 334, Grand County tallied 345 for third place, Kanab scored 346 in fourth, Enterprise shot 381 to finish sixth, and Parowan rounded out the standings with a 470.
New head coach Rob Wilcox says San Juan’s score of 367 surprised several coaches because the Broncos had not broken a team score of 400 in recent memory.
Maks Perkins led the boys with a very nice round of 89. Korver Perkins and Mason Lyman tied for second among the Broncos with identical rounds of 92.
Andrew Moses shot a 94, while Ryan Wilcox and Wyatt Ivins both carded 101s. Trace Bilbao shot a 109 and Boston Black carded a 112.
Wednesday, August 5 the boys headed north for a short trip to the familiar Moab Golf Course where they carded another solid round.
This time the Broncos came home sixth with an even better team score of 357. Beaver once again led the way with a 300, Grand County was second with a 330, and South Sevier was third with a 338.
Kanab scored 342 as a team to secure fourth place. Enterprise hit 355, earning fifth place, and Parowan was seventh with a score of 430.
Korver Perkins paced San Juan with an individual score of 81 strokes. Mason Lyman, Andrew Moses, and Ryan Wilcox all carded rounds of 92.
Maks Perkins was fifth among the Broncos with a score of 95, Wyatt Evans shot a 97, Kyler Steve came home with a 117, and Ender Lacy scored 118.
San Juan will continue their speedy pace to start the year this week when they head to Taylorsville, UT on Wednesday, August 12 for their third round of the season at the Meadow Brook Golf Course.
