Blanding accepting applications for city council seat

Blanding City is accepting applications for an opening on the city council.

Applications are due by Friday, October 9 at 5:30 pm.

Candidates will be interviewed by the city council with sitting members of the council voting on the appointment at a meeting in October.

The appointed council member will serve for 16 months through the first Monday of January 2028. A municipal election in November 2027 will decide the remaining years on the term.

The council seat is open due to a resignation from council member Jesse Grover.

One application had been submitted as of Monday October 5 according to city staff.

Several eligibility requirements exist including a requirement of being a US citizen, at least 18 years of age and a legal resident of Blanding City for 12 consecutive months preceding the appointment date.

Candidates must also be a registered voter of the city, and candidates must maintain a principal place of residence within Blanding during the term.
