Antonio Maria Chacon February 26, 1937 ~ February 8, 2024
We are deeply heart broken that our father, grandfather and husband Antonio Maria Chacon died on February 8 from natural causes.
He is remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, watching tennis, boxing, sports, Judge Judy, and always playing bingo. Dad cared deeply for animals, especially for his beloved cat “y la Cactus” who slept at his side every moment of the day.
He was a proud Navy veteran who served in Korea. He loved reading the newspaper, drinking coffee, and “taking care of our mom” as he always joked. His favorite music was Englebert Humperdinck, a little bit of country, classical, and he brightened up when watching grandson Orion play guitar.
He taught his daughters the ABCs with the guitar, and loved the sound of it. He loved singing “Volver” by Vicente Fernandez.
Although he lived a long life of almost 87 years (his birthday was February 26), he will be deeply missed.
At the end of his life his grandchildren took special care for him: Anthony, Vanessa, Ragina, Destiny, Felicia and Aundrea. Blessed with a united and loving family, take is easy until we meet again.
He is preceded in death by his children Ernesto Chacon and Gina Chacon Genova, grandson Orlando Chacon, parents Cosme Chacon and Pomasena Manzanarez Gallegos, brother Bill Chacon, sister Rosalinda Hurtado, younger brothers Narciso Chacon and Raymond Chacon, who died as children, and many cousins, and friends, especially his best friend and cousin Leroy Garcia and friend Jim Jukes.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Virginia Chacon, children Tony Jack (Lisa)Chacon, Dominique (Marcos) Chacon, Ruby Chacon, Melody (Gilbert) Lopez, and Rick Nolan.
He had a special place in his heart for the granddaughter he helped raise Aundrea Maestas, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and siblings Dora Martinez, Genevieve Hernandez, Dolores Vigil, and Marianne (Choco) Chacon.
Memorial services were held earlier in Salt Lake City and a
military service will be held in June for those traveling from far away.
