Arlene Rogers September 7, 1934 ~ December 11, 2022

Arlene Rogers, of Monticello, passed away December 11, 2022, in Draper, UT at the age of 88, surrounded by her family.
She was born September 7, 1934 in Monticello, the oldest of Alfred and Margaret Christensen’s three children. Arlene spent most of her childhood in Monticello.
She met the love of her life, Donald Rogers, of Blanding, at a church dance. Arlene and Donald were sealed in the Manti Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on February 9, 1951.
Donald was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict soon after their marriage. As a young bride, Arlene bravely juggled her new roles of wife and mother by herself.
This continued for a time even after Donald’s return, when he spent long stretches working as a cowboy in the mountains and canyons of the San Juan country to support their family.
They raised three children together—Jeff, Kelly, and Marci—and were married for nearly 50 years, spending almost their entire life together in Monticello.
Arlene was steadfastly at Donald’s side as he fought a decade-long battle against cancer until his death in 2000.
Arlene and Donald enjoyed dancing, having dinner parties with neighbors, and playing cards. She was an avid reader, especially books about history, and enjoyed going on rides up Blue Mountain.
Arlene was also a devoted fan of the Utah Jazz and frequently impressed her grandchildren with her knowledge of pop culture. She had a mischievous sense of humor and a hearty laugh.
It was her role as a proud and loving grandma that brought her the most joy, especially in the later years of her life.
Arlene is preceded in death by her husband Donald, son Kelly, parents Alf and Marge, brothers Buster and David, grandson Chance Rogers, and great-grandsons Tyler Burton and Kaleb Rogers.
She is survived by her children Jeff (Paula) Rogers and Marci (Earl) Stevens, sister-in-law Brenda Christensen, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Monticello LDS Stake Center, 165 South Main, immediately followed by a graveside service at the Monticello City Cemetery.
