Arthur Begay January 30 1959 ~ March 3, 2023

Arthur Begay, 64, passed away in Westwater, a small community just outside of Blanding on Friday, March 3, 2023.
He was born on January 30, 1959 in Ganado, AZ to Kee Wilson Begay and Nellie Marie Benally. Arthur had six siblings: Julia, Arthur, Walter, Earl, Benjamin, and Timothy Begay. He always enjoyed family get-togethers on Easter and Thanksgiving. In the event of his death, he will be welcomed home by his parents Kee and Nellie, sister Julia and his brother Walter.
Arthur worked most of his life with the Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked the tie gang, curve gang, and spike gang. He worked hard labor fixing the railroad tracks.
While living in Salt Lake City, UT in his 30’s, he met the love of his life Lena Lovell.
They met through Lena’s sister Bessie and her boyfriend Kenny. Arthur worked and traveled to different states while continuing dating Lena.
In 1991, they found out they were expecting their first child Shinshyna Ann Begay and within the following year, they were expecting another child Brandon Arthur Begay.
As the family began to grow, the family decided to relocate to Delta, UT in 1994. Alonzo Lane Begay was born shortly after that, and Shania Ann Begay was born eight years later, making the family complete.
They stayed in Delta for 16 years, then the family moved to Monticello, UT where they stayed until all the kids graduated from high school.
Arthur eventually moved back to Blue Gap, AZ to help his mom Mary Ann Benally with her sheep herding. He moved back home with his family that had moved to Blanding,UT.
Arthur Begay loved his family. He was always involved and showed up to all their games. He loved to watch his kids enjoy the sports that he himself did as a teenager. He taught all his kids how to box, baseball, basketball, football, track and field, and cross county.
He never enjoyed watching soccer but he was there for support.
Arthur loved his grandkids Leo Christensen, Alia Begay, Talisha Wells, and Mylo Begay. He was so happy that the grandkids enjoyed all the activities he loved.
